Even though #nikkidesaintphalle disappeared in 2002, it is impossible to forget her “Nanas”, these imposing and colourful women whose composition and materials remind me every time of #gaudi ‘s works. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This enormous representation of women has kept me away from her work for a long time. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My caution about overbidding things or words and militancy that may only be in fashion for a moment always makes me go backwards. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I love women and I also love the dialogues we have together… ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Much more than the scales we can sometimes set up, without really or sincerely realizing it, so that one or the other reaches one more level… or one less level… ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I prefer that we consider, as often as possible and if possible, things in a vision with one AND the other.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
After performances to unleash colour with the rifle 😅 – performances were already a very popular phenomenon in the early 60s, I already talked about them on Instagram with those of #georgesmathieu – Nikki started developing parks full of sculptures with her accomplice #tinguely …Here, a bird escapes. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Do you know where it comes from ?;) From where ? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I gradually learned to understand Nikki’s work and research by taking an interest in her life as a privileged socialite woman – a phenomenon of a woman who plays several roles that I also mentioned in a previous post on #jackiekennedy – and then as an international model who became a real artist after a period of profound existential questioning. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Perhaps after also the acceptance of a adolescence where something has definitely broken in her imagination and her female body :/ ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
For me, she represents an image of women in transition in a world whose values were changing – fortunately – rapidly.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
As an artist, I find in her the vital vigour that I love very much in her contemporary artist #yvesklein ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She is also an artist whose emergence and continuity in a relentless work and with the willingness to share have undoubtedly inspired me to do this post. ⁣⁣

⁣I hope this will make you want to learn more about her… There’s no way you won’t see one of his works one day ! 😄
